COMMERCIAL AMBULANCE PROVIDER
INFORMATION
Commercial
ambulance providers can receive Medical Assistance reimbursement as
listed below:
- Medicare
Ambulance Program where Medical Assistance will cover the
co-insurance and deductible of a Medicare covered transport.
Claims must be submitted on a CMS 1500 along with the Medicare
EOB.
- Non-Emergency
Ambulance Transport: the local counties are responsible for
contracting with local vendor (s) using their individual county
procurement procedures. Ambulance providers, who wish to
participate in the non-emergency ambulance transport of Medical
Assistance recipients, should contact the
Transportation Grant
Manager in the county or counties they wish to serve.
To participate in
the Medicare Ambulance Program, providers must become a Maryland
Medical Assistance provider. Applications can be obtained from the
Provider Enrollment unit at 410-767-5340. Please include a copy of
your state ambulance license with the application.
EMERGENCY
AMBULANCE TRANSPORT-PROVIDER INFORMATION
Maryland Medical
Assistance will cover emergency medical transport service when an
ambulance is dispatched from a 911 Call Center, which transports a
recipient from the incident to the hospital. Medical Assistance will
pay $100 per transport, whether advanced life support (ALS) or basic
life support (BLS). The program does not reimburse for mileage. To
be eligible for reimbursement, providers must:

Be a public entity or a volunteer
fire, rescue or emergency medical service. Commercial Ambulances
are not eligible to participate.

Enroll as a Maryland Medical
Assistance provider. Interested Providers can obtain an
application from the Provider Enrollment Unit at 410-767-5340

Certify that all third-party payers
are routinely billed for services

Submit a state license to verify
your status as a provider. Maryland State volunteer services and
municipal EMS providers are not required to submit a license.
