Jurisdictional Lines

As a reminder, jurisdictional lines are not used in determining transportation decisions. Transportation Grant Transmittal No. 3 stipulates that the Medical Assistance Transportation Program is only required to transport to the CLOSEST PROVIDER.

EXAMPLE: A recipient residing in Carroll County wishes to obtain surgery at a hospital in Baltimore City.  However, the local hospital in Westminister has the facilities and staff to perform the surgery and are Medical Assistance providers. Consequently, the MA Transportation Program is only obligated to transport the recipient to the local hospital.
